Next Meetup: Tuesday September 1, 2026
6 am at the Rabbit Mountain trailhead in Longmont.
We meet on the first and third Tuesday of every month.
We finish by 7:30.
Free event. Just show up.
What We Do
We meet up at the Rabbit Mountain trailhead and bring a bunch of sandbags, kettlebells, and weights.
We do a shared workout carrying the weight up and down the hill as a group.
The workout takes ~40 minutes. We rotate the weight around, stick together, and nobody finishes alone.
Stronger guys carry more load. This is open to all abilities.
Then we hang in the pavilion for a ~45 minute Bible study.
Exact Location: Ron Stewart Preserve at Rabbit Mountain Open Space
The idea for this group started after attending a sandbag carry club in Boulder in the Spring of 2026.
I loved the format. Sharing a challenge with other guys. Different fitness levels, everybody moving together the whole time.
I thought it would work perfectly as a way to organize Christ followers who were interested in fitness, and looking for a strong local group to grow in both faith and fitness with.
We began meeting up in Summer 2026 and have been running them regularly ever since.
Occasionally we do something different and invite the same group. We send those out to the email list.
Do I need to bring my own weights?
No. We usually have plenty. Bring something if you have it and want to.
Do I need to be super fit?
No. This is for all ability levels. We share the weight and stronger guys carry more load.
What do I wear?
Trail shoes are a good idea. Anything you’d hike in works. Bring water.
How many people show up? Sometimes it’s 5+. Sometimes it’s two. Both are normal.
What if the weather's bad? We still show up in rain, snow, or anything messy. The only thing that cancels us is lightning.
Do I need to know anybody? No. Almost nobody does the first time.
Can I bring someone? Yes! Bringing friends is encouraged.
Do I have to be a Christian? No. Some of our guys have been believers their whole lives. Some got baptized a few years ago. Some haven’t yet given their life to Jesus, but know they want to know God better.
The common thread is hard working dudes who want to grow their relationship with God. We do point everyone to Jesus Christ.

You don't need to be a fitness freak to organize a local tribe.
You need one other guy, something heavy, and a date on the calendar.
I put together a free Carry Club Field Guide with everything I’ve learned from hosting these:
Getting guys to show up
Choosing the weight and route
Leading the workout
Turning a hard workout into real connection
Enter your email below and I’ll send it to you.
